US condemns attacks on Iraqi Kurdistan Region

Kurdistan region in Iraq has been under multiple missile attacks.

Washington DC, 27 June 2022 (TDI): The United States, along with partners, condemned the attacks on the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The US Department of the State spokesperson, Ned Price, stated in an official statement.

According to the official sources, Sulaimaniya’s oil and gas infrastructure suffered three attacks in the last four days. For this purpose, the Spokesperson said these repeated rocket and mortar attacks aim to undermine economic stability, challenge Iraqi sovereignty, and sow division and intimidate.

Earlier, official sources stated that the violent rocket attacks on the Kurdistan region targeted Khor Mor gas fields for the third time in a week.

Furthermore, he emphasized the investigation and prosecution of the responsible and extended his support to the Iraqi people in the form of security and prosperity.

Additionally, he mentioned US allies in the Kurdistan region and stated that such violent incidents are unacceptable.

Iraq condemns attacks on the Economy

Meanwhile, the President of Iraq, Barham Salih, condemned the attacks on the oil and gas field in Khor Mor and other areas.

He further elaborated that such attacks aimed to destabilize the country’s economic growth. Furthermore, he elaborated that the country had no choice but to stand firmly against these vicious criminal attempts.

Kurdistan Region is an autonomous region in Iraq comprising the four Kurdish-majority governorates of Duhok, Erbil, Halabja, and Sulaymaniyah.

Along these lines, he encouraged the stakeholders to deploy national forces to support security services.

In addition, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region, Masrour Barzani, expressed concern over terror attacks on the people and infrastructure of Iraq.

He emphasized taking immediate public and practical measures to rein in the groups in the region. Meanwhile, there are no reported cases of any damage to UAE-owned Khor Mor gas fields.  Also, non of the non-state groups have claimed responsibility for these attacks.
