US Charge d’ Affaires Visited Wazir Khan Mosque

Lahore, 14 October 2021 (TDI): The US Charge d’Affaires Angela P. Aggeler visited the historic Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore today.

According to the US Consulate in Lahore, the USA has donated to Pakistan about 239 million Pakistani Rupees for the restoration of the historic Wazir Khan Mosque and its neighboring areas.

During the visit of the US Charge d’Affaires, Angela P. Aggeler remarked that the US fund various projects for the restoration of historic sites in Pakistan. These funded projects are a symbol of the deep respect that the USA has for Pakistan. She also said that the USA also respects Pakistani culture.

USA has also launched Ambassador Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) that aims to restore historical sites in Pakistan. So far, under this initiative, a total of 30 historical sites in Pakistan have been awarded a grant by the U.S Mission for the restoration and preservation of these sites. Historical sites that had recently been awarded grants by the US includes Lahore Fort and Frere Hall in Karachi.
