Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and the United States have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties, following a series of productive engagements between senior government officials and leading representatives of the US business community.
The visit of the US-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) and the US Chamber of Commerce to Islamabad marked a crucial step forward in promoting trade, investment, and commercial collaboration between the two nations.
During the meeting, the US delegation, which was led by Charles Freeman, Senior Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce, met with Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, to discuss avenues for expanding economic cooperation.
Furthermore, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker participated in the meetings, emphasizing the importance the US places on its economic partnership with Pakistan.
Minister Kamal welcomed the delegation and highlighted the positive role the USPBC has played over the past two decades in fostering US-Pakistan commercial engagement. He noted that the visit would further solidify economic relations and promote increased trade and investment flows.
He also stressed that the United States remains Pakistan’s largest export destination, and highlighted the country’s commitment in addressing issues such as unbalanced trade and improving market access through comprehensive, stakeholder-driven policies.

Moreover, Baker praised the revival of US soybean exports to Pakistan, describing it as a positive milestone in agricultural trade. She also noted the potential for deepening cooperation in the cotton sector, a key input for Pakistan’s textile industry, and encouraged further diversification of bilateral trade.
Khan assured the delegation of Pakistan’s commitment to creating a transparent, predictable, and fair trade environment for US investors. He outlined recent economic reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business, including reduced inflation and policy rates, lower energy costs, and enhanced regulatory transparency.

Freeman expressed appreciation for the hospitality and commitment of the Government of Pakistan, reaffirming the US business community’s interest in continued dialogue and cooperation.
The USPBC visit, taking place from May 5–7, serves as a platform to deepen economic engagement and explore opportunities for job creation and shared growth.
