Ashgabat, 11 September 2024 (TDI): In her inaugural press briefing in Ashgabat, Elizabeth Rood, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Turkmenistan, outlined a comprehensive agenda for fostering bilateral cooperation.
Her remarks highlighted a strong focus on economic development and investment as central to the Embassy’s mission.
Ambassador Rood stressed the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to engaging actively with Turkmenistan’s government, private sector, and educational institutions.
The goal, she stated, is to stimulate job creation, diversify the national economy, and enhance economic prospects.
The Ambassador identified four pivotal areas for collaboration: addressing climate change, advancing economic development, tackling security issues, and advocating for fundamental freedoms.
On climate change, Rood underscored Turkmenistan’s crucial role in global efforts to combat environmental challenges.
She lauded President Serdar Berdymukhamedov’s commitment to reducing methane emissions as a significant step forward.
