New York, 25 September 2021(TDI): The President of the United Nations General Assembly(UNGA), Abdullah Shahid, has formally thanked the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, for supporting his presidency of UNGA.
Both leaders talked about Abdullah Shahid’s vision as the UNGA President. Abdullah Shahid has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives in 2018. He was elected president of UNGA on 7th September 2021. Abdullah Shahid has nicknamed his presidency as ‘Presidency of Hope’.
The Prime Minister of Luxembourg also discussed matters pertaining to human rights, recovering economies, and climate change. The new United Nations President affirmed his support for all the aforementioned causes.
