Juba, 18 September 2021 (TDI): United Nations Population Fund Deputy Representative Chris Oyeyipo met with the Norwegian ambassador to South Sudan, Siv Kaspersen, to sign a $1.8 Million agreement extending Norway’s support for UNFPA in South Sudan.
The main purpose of the agreement was to strengthen the people of South Sudan and extend Norway’s support towards South Sudan through UNFPA.
The area of focus under the agreement remained programs of reproductive health of the women of South Sudan. Along with it, the major chunk of the agreement will fall for the eradication of Gender-Based Violence in South Sudan, supporting the youth and creating gender equity.
Lastly, the agreement also took into account the collection of South Sudan’s population data up to the end of 2022. The agreement and the Norwegian support towards South Sudan were welcomed by the people and government of South Sudan and UNFPA.
