UNESCO Director General Welcomed President of France

Mosul, 30 August 2021 (TDI): the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay expressed gratitude to French President Emmanuel Macron on his visit to Mosul, Iraq.

The Director-General showed her gratitude to the President as the official visits the UNESCO sites working in Mosul. UNESCO’s efforts to revive the spirits of Mosul were deeply appreciated by the President of France.

Using the gracious event, the Director-General stressed the attainment of peace which is possible through sharing of cultures and maintaining the heritage of Iraq. The Director-General believed that the future of Iraq depends on educational, traditional, and human dimensions.

The Director-General thanked the Iraqi and Mosul experts who worked for the past three years for the cause.

The Director-General also thanked President Emmanuel Macron for his tremendous support to UNESCO France and for paying a visit to the historic sites of Mosul including Notre Dame de l’Heure Church and the Al Nuri Mosque.
