Islamabad, 2 September 2024 (TDI): United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan Muhammad Yahya met with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division in Islamabad on Monday.
During the meeting, Yahya briefed the Aurangzeb on the work of the UN and its agencies regarding the development and humanitarian assistance projects in Pakistan.
He also apprised the finance minister of UNESCAP and its work on debt consolidation in middle-income countries. Yahya highlighted that the UN could cooperate with Pakistan in the energy transition field.

The Finance Minister said the government was fully committed to implementing policy reforms for sustainable economic development. He also appreciated the UN and its agencies’ cooperation with the government in this regard.
“Climate finance and energy transition are important areas for improving energy sector viability in the country and welcomes the UNESCAP’s cooperation in this regard,” he said.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their resolve to continue working closely to address Pakistan’s development challenges and to implement sustainable solutions that benefit all segments of society.
