NEW YORK, (TDI): The United Nations has condemned the terrorist attack near Karachi’s International Airport that left two Chinese citizens dead, emphasizing that civilians should never be targeted.
Late Sunday night, a massive explosion occurred on a road near the airport, killing three people and injuring at least 11 others, including one Chinese national.
“We denounce this act of terror that we witnessed in Pakistan,” said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, during a regular briefing at UN Headquarters in New York.
“The civilian population should never be the target, and we extend our condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and governments of both Pakistan and China,” he added.
On Monday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office in a statement strongly condemned the heinous attack near Karachi airport.

The statement expressed, “We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, both Chinese and Pakistani, and offer prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.”
It described the attack as a deplorable act of terrorism that not only targets Pakistan but also threatens the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan.
The statement reiterated, “We remain resolute in bringing to justice those responsible for this cowardly attack, including the Majeed Brigade.”
Furthermore, it affirmed that Pakistan’s security and law enforcement agencies would spare no effort in apprehending the perpetrators and their facilitators, stating that this barbaric act will not go unpunished.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan is in close contact with the Chinese Embassy for coordination and assistance.
The statement highlighted that Pakistan and China are close partners, united by a bond of mutual respect and shared destiny.
Islamabad reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions in Pakistan, pledging to continue working hand in hand with their Chinese counterparts to combat terrorism.
