Ukraine Hits Moscow in Biggest Drone Attack

ISLAMABAD, September 10, 2024 (TDI): On Tuesday, Ukraine hit Moscow in nine regions in its major drone attack, which resulted in the killing of a 46-year-old woman and destroying several houses.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that air defenses intercepted 144 Ukrainian drones overnight across nine regions, with 20 drones shot down over the Moscow area alone.

The wreckage from one of these drones caused damage to at least two high-rise apartment buildings in Ramenskoye, located about 50 kilometres southeast of the Kremlin.

Ukraine Strikes Moscow 

Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed that the attack resulted in a fire on the 11th and 12th floors of a residential building, leading to the death of a 46-year-old woman and injuries to three other people.

In response, 43 residents have been evacuated to temporary shelters.

Moscow City Mayor Sergei Sobyanin indicated that emergency teams have been deployed to several areas, including areas near Zhukovo airport and Domodedovo, one of Moscow’s major airports.

As a precaution, authorities temporarily closed Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports, causing 48 flights to be rerouted to other airports.

The Ramenskoye district, home to approximately 250,000 residents, remains under close observation as recovery efforts continue.
