Kyiv, 17 August 2022 (TDI): The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky stated through his official Twitter account that he had a successful conversation with the Prime Minister of Denmark.

President Zelensky thanked the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen for supporting Ukraine.

President Zelensky also thanked Frederiksen for the successful meeting between the defense ministers of Denmark and Ukraine. The meeting was a waypoint for the provision of Danish defense assistance and aid package for Ukraine.

They also highlighted the provision of financial assistance by Denmark to Ukraine during the conversation. Zelensky also appreciated Denmark for sustaining sanctions by the Russian Federation as that strengthens the support for Ukraine.

Copenhagen Conference to support Ukraine 

Denmark hosted the Conference of Northern European Allies in Copenhagen to support Ukraine on August 11. The Ministry of Defense of Denmark hosted the conference and urged international support for Ukraine.

26 partner states took part in this conference to support Ukraine’s position in its conflict with Russia. Defense ministers, deputy ministers and other top officials represented delegations at the conference.

All the states pledged more than 1.5 billion Euros which is almost US$ 1.5 billion for the support of Ukraine, through this conference. These funds were in form of cash, military equipment, weapons, and training for the Ukrainian armed forces.

The money pledged by a group of 26 countries at the conference in Copenhagen, will supply existing weapons, missiles and ammunition, increase weapon production for Ukraine, train Ukrainian soldiers, and de-mine war-torn areas in Ukraine.

By the end of the conference, the Defense Minister of Denmark, Morten Bodskov told the journalists that “We will continue to assist Ukraine in its military needs”.

At this conference, all the 26 Northern European states, including Denmark. Therefore, a joint declaration of 26 Western states, including the United Kingdom and European nations was signed at this conference.

The support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Moscow has mobilized diplomatic, political, and economic support for Kyiv on every front.
