UK State Secretary, Pakistan FM discuss Kabul evacuation

London, 28 August 2021 (TDI): The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and development affairs of the United Kingdom Dominic Raab had a telephonic conversation with his Pakistani counterpart FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The matter under discussion during this phone call was the second phase undergone for evacuating people from Afghanistan. As the first phase of evacuation ended succesfuly in moving many people out from Kabul to UK. The second phase of evacuation started after the Kabul Airport attack.

The UK Government volunteers from the Crisis Management Department worked day and night to evacuate UK nationals and Afghans from Kabul. Till now they have helped approximately 14,000 people leave Afghanistan.

Dominic Raab along with the FM Qureshi jointly condemned the attack in Kabul. The British High Commissioner to Pakistan said that Pakistan remains a vital and significant partner of Afghanistan and furthermore, both UK and Pakistan will work closely together to safeguard regional stability.
