Kuwait City, 25 August 2022 (TDI): The Captain of HMS Middleton (a hunt-class mine countermeasures vessel of the British Royal Navy), Admiral Gemma Britton met with the Director-General of the Kuwait Ports Corporation, Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Al-Sabah.

The meeting between the two sides took place on Thursday in Kuwait. General Manager of the Kuwait Ports Corporation, Muhammad Isa Al Mulla received Admiral Britton on his visit to Kuwait.

Moreover, the Deputy Ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Island to Kuwait, Sunny Ahmed also joined Admiral Britton on his visit to Kuwait and meeting with the Director-General of Kuwait Ports. During the visit, the two sides highlighted and discussed strong maritime ties between the UK Royal Navy and Kuwait Naval Force.

Moreover, the Royal Navy minehunter, HMS Middleton also visited Shuwaikh Port on Wednesday as part of strengthening the UK-Kuwait Defence Cooperation. Furthermore, the minesweeper is part of the UK Royal Navy’s deployment to the Gulf.

Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA)

KPA is an Information Technology and Services company located in Kuwait Ports Authority Building, Kuwait City, Al Assimah, Kuwait. The Kuwait Ports Authority oversees the country’s three main commercial ports – Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Doha – of which Shuwaikh is the largest.

Moreover, Shuaiba is the country’s second-biggest port and is also the site of Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s main export terminal for refined products. Whereas, Doha acts as a stopping point for smaller boats and traditional dhows.
