London, 07 August 2021 (TDI): On Saturday, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson congratulated Joe Choong and Kate French on winning the gold medal in both men’s and women’s modern pentathlon in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Britain’s Kate French made an exciting laser race on a hot night at Tokyo Stadium to win in the modern pentathlon race and Joe Choong dramatically won gold in the men’s after Kate French won a gold medal in the women’s race on Friday.
Modern pentathlon is a brutal event, a series of field sports in which you fence, you swim, and you bounce with a final combined event of pistol shooting and cross country running of 800 meters. To achieve a gold medal in modern pentathlon is a great success and shows a hardworking spirit.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, applauded Joe Choong and Kate French on this achievement and stated both of the athletes made the country proud.
