Abu Dhabi, 8 March 2022 (TDI): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent 30 metric tons of emergency relief by aircraft for the health assistance of the needy civilians of Ukraine on humanitarian grounds.

This assistance was in response to the international humanitarian plea for displaced Ukrainians and refugees in the neighboring states. According to a conservative estimate, there are more than 1.2 million refugees so far

The aircraft arrived in Lublin, Poland. Medical supplies and relief aids have been handed over to the Ukrainian authorities in Poland to be transferred to the affected Ukrainian refugees.

UAE’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Salem A. Al-Kaabi said that sending the aircraft with medical supplies and humanitarian aid is part of the UAE’s staunch dedication to indispensable humanitarian needs in conflicts involving civilians, particularly women and children.

Further, he assured that in the perpetual deteriorating situation, UAE will provide assistance whatever help they can. He advocated the UAE’s narrative to adopt a humanitarian approach that supports the provision of emergency response and relief to needy people.

This nuance is the central precept of the determination of the UAE’s leadership to stand by all the people of the world to counter any emergency situation on a compassionate basis.

Further by paying gratitude to the founding fathers of UAE the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, he told that these values are real demonstrations and extensions coming from their ancestors. These values are based on magnanimity, tolerance, hospitality, and serving the whole of humanity without any distinction and discrimination.

Ambassador Al-Kaabi also has announced the contribution of AED18.36 million (US$5 million) on the part of the UAE in response to the UN’s emergency appeal and the Regional Response Plan for Ukrainian refugees. This assistance is a reflection of the UAE’s commitment to the Principles of Humanitarian Solidarity in conflicts.
