UAE Reaffirms Human Rights Commitment

Abu Dhabi (TDI): Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, headed the UAE delegation to the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

According to the official statement released by the UAE Foreign Ministry, Al Kaabi affirmed the UAE’s strong commitment to promoting human rights through the development of national legislation and initiatives.

The country hosts more than 200 nationalities living in peace and harmony.

She also highlighted the importance of family and community in building a brighter future.

Notably, the country has officially declared 2025 as the Year of the Community, under the slogan “Hand in Hand” in a national initiative that embodies the leadership’s vision towards a cohesive and prosperous society.

She stated, “Protecting the family remains an important focus for all government policies, plans and programs in the UAE, based on its strong belief that the family represents the basic incubator of a united, secure and tolerant nation in which all members enjoy prosperity and stability.”

She further added,  ‘This is the country’s belief that a strong and stable community empowers our nation to achieve its goals, address concerns, and plan for the future.”

Addressing these concerns, the UAE government has issued laws to protect families, especially girls against violence, and abuse, and enhance social cohesion.

Minister Al Kaabi highlighted several laws in 2024 that reflect the demographic diversity in the country, saying the UAE enacted reforms to the Personal Affairs Law, which provides a comprehensive legal framework that regulates personal affairs.

Additionally, the country “has issued federal laws regarding correctional facilities, and social empowerment.”

The AE established the Ministry of Family in December 2024, which aims to foster stable families and reduce the risks of family disintegration.

She highlighted the UAE’s keenness to work with countries and organizations to promote human rights around the world, build bridges of communication and dialogue, favor diplomatic solutions, promote tolerance and achieve peace in the region and the world.

Minister Al Kaabi expressed that the UAE’s highest priority is to support political solutions that are based on dialogue, and negotiations, preventing confrontation and escalation, and enhancing relief and humanitarian efforts to all sufferings.
