Islamabad (TDI): United Arab Emirates President and Abu Dhabi Ruler Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is arriving in Islamabad today (Friday) on his first official visit to Pakistan.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the UAE leader is accompanied by a senior delegation.
The Foreign Office said this marks Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s maiden official visit to Pakistan since assuming office as UAE president. He previously visited the country earlier this year in January on a private trip.
During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The discussions will focus on reviewing the full scope of bilateral ties, as well as exchanging views on regional and global developments of shared concern.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit is expected to further deepen the long-standing and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. It added that the visit highlights the strong bond between the two countries and reflects their shared resolve to expand cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, development, and regional stability.

In connection with the visit, a public holiday has been declared in Islamabad. The Pakistan Secretariat and all federal institutions within the capital will remain closed for the day.
The Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat, and courts in Islamabad will also remain closed. Notifications issued by the Islamabad High Court Registrar confirmed that the high court and district courts will remain shut on December 26, while the Federal Constitutional Court has also canceled today’s cause list.

However, banks and essential services will continue to operate. Offices of the Capital Development Authority, police, and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited will remain open to ensure uninterrupted public services.
