Dubai, 12 November 2021 (TDI): Mohammed Al Maktoum, UAE’s Vice President, and Prime Minister, stated that the UAE has submitted a request to host COP28. The COP 28 conference will take place in 2023.
This is the world’s largest gathering of heads of state and government to discuss climate and environmental issues. Now, COP 26 is being held in Glasgow.
After the UAE’s request, countries have agreed to support it. They hope to announce the host country’s selection within the next two days. Prime Minister Mohammed Al Maktoum added that if the UAE is chosen to host the global event, the country will be prepared.
The UAE’s leaders have stated their willingness to host the UNFCCC’s 28th session of COP 28. The UAE has acted with foresight in addressing climate change for more than three decades. The country has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to investment projects aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change. More importantly, it is generating a positive economic impact for its citizens.
