DUBAI, 22 August 2024 (TDI): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Italian Republic have confirmed the extradition of Danilo Coppola, an Italian national convicted of financial crimes, to Italy following an official request.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Thursday that census has been reached during a telephonic call between UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi and Italian Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio.
The decision has been made in accordance with the bilateral extradition treaty between the UAE and Italy.
The ministers said that Coppola’s successful extradition underscores the strong commitment of both countries to upholding the rule of law and promoting international cooperation.
This outcome reflects the robust relationship between the UAE and Italy and demonstrates their shared determination to ensure justice is served. The agency noted that such procedures confirm the ongoing collaboration between the two nations in pursuing international justice.

The ministers stated, “These agreements firmly illustrate our keenness to enhance cooperation on legal and judicial matters according to best international practices, aiming to strengthen efforts against serious and organized crime.”
They added, “This positive development in our judicial cooperation underlines our shared commitment to ensuring that there is no impunity for those who commit crimes and attempt to evade justice by seeking refuge overseas.”
Both sides also stressed their commitment to providing regular updates on priority requests and maintaining open channels of communication between central authorities, reflecting a steadfast dedication to achieving effective judicial cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and Italy.
