Islamabad, 2 January 2024 (TDI) : With the purpose of building bridges in IT, UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi met with Pakistan’s Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Dr. Umar Saif on Tuesday.
This high-profile meeting aimed to explore prospects for the Pakistani IT sector in the UAE, building on their previous engagement at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX).
GITEX is a prominent global tech show held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The objective is to showcase latest advancement in Information Technology. It serves as a platform for companies, professionals, and experts from around the world to network, exhibit their products and services.
Minister Umar proclaimed that Pakistan will also sign an MOU with the UAE government to participate in a digital experience exchange program. He had previously discussed this initiative with his counterparts during his visit to GITEX.

GITEX Global tech exhibition 2023
In GITEX Global 2023, Pakistan’s representation was the biggest among all countries. Representatives of Pakistani IT firms marked it as a great platform for the Pakistan IT sector to grow and network with potential IT firms globally.
The previous year’s theme was based on AI technology. As a leading platform, GITEX provided an opportunity to over 6,000 exhibitors and at least 180,000 tech executives from 170 countries to unveil the latest developments and innovations in key economic sectors.
Muhammad Zohaib Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association, said, “Around 83 companies and startups had their stalls there along with more than 500 delegates, while top companies’ chairmen and chief executives participated in the event.
“Dozens of MoUs, agreements, and partnerships were signed with companies from all over the world,” Khan said.
In the GITEX event, Dr. Umar Saif pitched that Pakistan is a country of nearly 250 million people, and with abundant human resources, our country is the perfect destination for investors.
He was also part of a panel discussion titled ‘The Importance of Public-Private Partnerships in Boosting Economic Growth in the Fastest-Growing Economies’.
During the discussion, Dr. Umar emphasized that Pakistan will equip its people and educate them to avail the opportunities provided on the leading platforms.
