Ashgabat (TDI): The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Japan, Rashid Meredov and Takeshi Iwaya, held a telephone conversation to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation, including politics, trade, and culture, according to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministers highlighted the high level of trust in their countries’ relations, underscoring the importance of preparations for the upcoming first Central Asia + Japan Summit, which will be held at the heads-of-state level.

They also emphasized the continued collaboration between the foreign ministries of both nations, with discussions about future inter-MFA consultations.

The conversation also touched on the growing partnership in trade and economic sectors, with Japanese companies expressing interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan in areas such as green energy, decarbonization, and gas chemistry.

The ministers also acknowledged the importance of joint committees overseeing economic cooperation.
