Arkadag (TDI): The international conference titled “Year of Peace and Trust: Development of International Activities for the Sake of Children” was hosted by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, on Saturday.
The event coincided with the 4th anniversary of establishing the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
The conference highlighted key issues related to healthcare, medical and educational services for children and adolescents, and climate change.
The event brought together representatives from several states including the Deputy Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Inna Yuryevna Svyatenko, the Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan Saida Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva, and the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd.
Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Sharipbayevna Alnazarova, Minister of Labor, Health, and Social Protection of Georgia Mikheil Sarjveladze, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia Vardanush Grigoryan, and CEO of Askin & Co Med-Lab Ralph Lugbauer also participated in the event.

Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care welcomed the guests.
The event was chaired by Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Speaker of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan.
Several representatives from public institutions, international organizations, and experts involved in humanitarian and social activities also participated in the conference to discuss issues related to the protection of children worldwide.
Dr. Farhat Asif, President of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, delivered a keynote speech at the conference.
She praised Turkmenistan’s efforts in promoting inclusive education and the efforts of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation in providing vital support to children in need of care.
The foundation’s efforts were also widely praised by significant international organizations including UNICEF, which appreciated Turkmenistan’s commitment to helping vulnerable children.

The event highlighted Turkmenistan’s significant achievements in child protection, including the successful implementation of its National Action Plan for 2023-2028, a vaccination coverage rate of over 95% among children, and notable progress in salt iodization and flour fortification programs.
It served as an essential platform to highlight the issues faced by the children since birth, and the steps that need to be taken to enhance global solidarity in solving the issues related to childcare.
During the conference, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on strengthening global partnerships to protect vulnerable populations.
They reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the global strategies and programs of the United Nations, particularly the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and signed a declaration to promote the rights of children and strengthen the international efforts for the sake of peace and well-being of children.

They also visited the Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Center named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. The institute provides comprehensive rehabilitation and specialized treatment to children suffering from various non-infectious diseases and injuries.
The Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, highlighted earlier that a lot of work is being carried out in Turkmenistan “to provide the most favorable conditions for the comprehensive physical and mental development of the child, the provision of medical, social and other assistance, and the support of young Turkmen citizens.”
