Ashgabat, 15 March 2022 (TDI): Turkmenistan has elected its new President, Serdar Gurbangulyyevich Berdimuhamedo, through the elections in the country.
Serdar Gurbangulyyevich Berdimuhamedov has gained a 72.97 Percent vote and has been elected as the President of the country.

Details of the elections
The Turkmenistan Election commission organized a Presidential election in a cheering manner on 12 March from 7:00 to 19:00. The registered voters in Turkmenistan are 34,60,080.
While 33,62,052 voters castes the ballot in support of their respective candidate. The turnout in the presidential election was 97.17 Percent. Total nine candidates competed in the election across the country.
Serdar Gurbangulyyevich Berdimuhamedov: A Profile
Serdar Gurbangulyyevich Berdimuhamedov is a young Turkman politician. He belongs to the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan. Earlier, he served many government posts in the gas-rich country of central Asia. Also, Berdimuhamedov serves as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
Besides, he is the son of the incumbent Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. Before elections, it was expected that Serdar Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov would win the election with a huge margin.
