Türkiye Urges World to Respond Against Israel's Sabotaging Aggression in Lebanon

Ankara (TDI): Türkiye has called on the international community to remain vigilant against what it describes as potential Israeli attempts to undermine a fragile ceasefire in the Middle East.

Speaking on Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan urged global actors to be prepared to respond “appropriately” to any actions that could derail the recently announced US-Iran truce.

The ceasefire, that took effect on Wednesday, aims to pause escalating hostilities that have destabilized the region and threatened global energy security since February 28 when US and Israel jointly launched strikes on multiple locations in Iran.

Fidan accused Israel of exacerbating tensions across multiple fronts, including Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

He also warned that Israeli operations are expanding into Lebanon, raising concerns that the conflict could widen further and jeopardize diplomatic efforts. According to Ankara, such actions risk creating “new facts on the ground” that could make a long-term political solution more difficult to achieve.

Türkiye’s remarks come at a critical moment for the ceasefire, which has already shown signs of fragility. While the agreement between Washington and Tehran has been welcomed across the world, ongoing Israeli military activity in Lebanon has cast doubt on whether the truce can hold.

Israeli strikes in Lebanon create all the more room for perception of ill-intention as this aggression continues even when Iran and the US have sent their delegation to Islamabad, Pakistan for peace talks happening on Friday and this weekend.

Fidan noted that Türkiye is working closely with international partners to sustain momentum toward de-escalation and prevent further deterioration of the security situation.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has also voiced support for the ceasefire, stressing the importance of full implementation and warning against provocations that could reignite conflict.

His government has positioned itself as an active diplomatic player, leveraging its regional ties to facilitate communication between rival parties and support negotiations.

Turkiye was one of the three regional countries whose foreign ministers gathered in Islamabad earlier for discussions that ultimately led to the brokering of the ceasefire.
