Doha, 5 December 2023(TDI): President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the 9th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee in Qatar.
Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim, welcomed President Erdogan with Turkey at an official celebration, playing the national anthems of Turkey and Qatar and observing the guard of honor.
However, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, Turkey’s Ambassador Mehmet Mustafa Gosku, and other authorities welcomed President Erdogan at Hamad International Airport.
The 9th meeting of the Qatar-Türkiye High Strategic Committee, held on Monday, was the highlight of the visit. The summit evaluated all elements of the two countries’ relations and looked into measures to strengthen them.
On Monday, Erdogan and Al Thani assessed the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza also highlighted discussions between the leaders of two countries that play an active role in conflict mediation and assisting Palestinian residents detained in the territory by Israel.
President Erdogan emphasized during the discussion that Israel must be held accountable for the war crimes it has committed and that it is crucial to bolster international support as well as legal action in this regard.
According to the reports, the talks with Turkey’s strategic partner Qatar have resulted in the signing of many cooperation agreements and memoranda.
Erdogan will also attend the 44th Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) summit in Doha today. However, Turkey is a GCC “strategic dialogue” partner, along with Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait.

A Comprehensive List of Signed Agreements
Turkey and Qatar signed a dozen agreements ranging from discussions on politics to cultural partnerships, labor cooperation, humanitarian assistance, educational programs, military partnerships, scientific collaboration, strategic interaction, information and communication collaboration, promoting investment, and joint commercial cooperation.
Furthermore these agreements include, “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye’s and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar regarding the Establishment of Political Consultations on Matters of Mutual Interest”
“Third Executive Programme 2024-2025 for the Execution of the Memorandum of Agreement on Cultural Partnerships between the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Qatar’s Ministry of Culture.”
“Memorandum of Agreement on Labor Collaboration between the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Labour.”
“Memorandum of Understanding on Humanitarian Aid and Charity Collaboration among the Directorate General for Relations with Civil Society of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye and the State of Qatar’s Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities.”
“Protocol on Collaboration on the Establishment of Turkish Language Teaching Centers between the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye and Lusail University in the State of Qatar.”
“The Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the State of Qatar have signed a military framework agreement.”
