Baku, 16 March 2024 (TDI): On March 15, the ninth trilateral meeting of Foreign Ministers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia was organized in Baku. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hosted his counterparts, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidana and Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
The trilateral meeting mechanism aims to promote regional stability, peace, and prosperity. According to these aims, participants signed the Baku Declaration in the light of promotions of the abovementioned values.
After the meeting, participants addressed the press conference. Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, highlighted the economic disruptions caused by COVID-19 and the economic costs sparked by the ongoing Russian aggression on Ukraine.
He reiterated Turkiye’s stance on the ongoing Gaza onslaught. Fidan emphasized that the only viable solution is a two-state solution.
Regarding regional cooperation between Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed regional developments and energy and connectivity agreements. He mentioned the Azerbaijani restoration of the Karabakh region and Georgian’s EU status.

Regional Developments
Fidan emphasized the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and the multilateral economic forum between Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkiye. Likewise, he expressed his country’s readiness to support the Azerbaijani and Georgian presidency of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).
Further, Fidan stressed the importance of the Zangezur corridor, saying it facilitates Turkiye’s access to the Turkic world. He also highlighted the support of some NATO members to YPG AND PKK, which are designated as terrorist groups in Turkiye.
In addition, he mentioned President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s role in achieving a grain deal that was beneficial for global food security. Fidan concluded his part by stressing Turkiye’s endeavor to bring peace to Lybia.
In brief, Azerbaijani and Georgian Foreign Ministers stressed the importance of trilateral meetings and bringing peace and stability to the region.
