Islamabad, 11 November 2023 (TDI): Turkish Embassy in Pakistan on Friday 10th November hosted a meeting with Turkish businesses and institutions operating in Pakistan at the Embassy’s residence in Islamabad.

According to a post on social media, the Turkish Embassy posted that they had a productive engagement with Turkish institutions and organizations operating in Pakistan, the companies with investments in Pakistan were also present in this meeting.

Moreover, the post stated that the meeting was centered around the queries and feedback of the companies and their existing and future prospects.

“We listened to our companies at the meeting and discussed the activities that can be done in the coming period,” posted the Turkish Embassy.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Türkiye, there are 17 Turkish firms operating in Pakistan.

It also adds that Turkish investments in Pakistan are mainly focused on energy, finance, infrastructure projects and contracting sectors.

According to the details on their website the leading sector for Turkish investors and companies in Pakistan in terms of capital investment is construction.

It is to be noted that the historic Trade in Goods agreement signed between Pakistan and Türkiye which came into effect on May 1st, 2023, paves the way for new opportunities for trade between both countries.

Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his visit to Türkiye, earlier this year, invited Turkish Businessmen to invest in Pakistan across various sectors including energy, agriculture, Information Technology (IT), and construction.

During this engagement, the Former Prime Minister highlighted the government’s vision to facilitate direct foreign investment and assuring Turkish companies of complete facilitation and a conductive business environment.

These investments and facilitations play a crucial role in future bilateral relations between both countries.
