Türkiye, Pakistan Pledge Parliamentary Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Parliamentary Group in Solidarity With Palestine — a global platform advocating unwavering support for the Palestinian cause amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis, caused by Israel’s unlawful assault on Gaza and Occupied Territories.

During the discussion, both dignitaries exchanged views on fostering closer inter-parliamentary relations and unlocking new opportunities for cooperation between Türkiye and Pakistan.

The two nations, bound by historical, cultural, and religious ties, reaffirmed their mutual commitment to advancing peace, prosperity, and development through parliamentary diplomacy.

The speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining regular dialogue between their respective legislative bodies, highlighting the crucial role of parliamentary cooperation in addressing contemporary global challenges.

Numan Kurtulmuş underscored Türkiye’s deep-rooted solidarity with Pakistan and praised its unwavering support for oppressed peoples worldwide, particularly the Palestinians.

He expressed confidence in the strength of Türkiye-Pakistan relations, stating that this partnership not only serves the interests of both countries but also promotes stability and justice in the wider Islamic world.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed his Turkish counterpart’s commitment and reiterated Pakistan’s profound respect and affection for Türkiye.

He expressed hope that this constructive dialogue would pave the way for enhanced parliamentary exchanges, joint initiatives on global platforms, and a unified stand on issues of mutual concern, including advocating for the rights and freedoms of the Palestinian people.

During the Meeting of Parliamentary Group in Solidarity with Palestine, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq strongly denounced the killing of over 42,000 Palestinians — including 13,300 children, by Israel.

He noted that many of these attacks were deliberate or indiscriminate, wiping out entire multigenerational families, and that these are not mere numbers, they represent a collective moral failure.

The meeting concluded with both leaders expressing determination to translate these discussions into actionable frameworks, promoting peace, development, and justice at the regional and international levels.
