Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ Set to Become Law

Washington (TDI): On Thursday, US President Donald Trump witnessed the biggest legislative victory of his second term in office as his “One Big Beautiful Bill” was passed by the Congress, and is now ready to be signed into law by the President himself.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives established a final yes or no vote on the bill, after the chamber’s Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries delayed the action through his more than eight hour long speech.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said on the house floor, “Now we are finally ready to fulfil our promise to the American people.”

The bill is aimed at extending Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, it will cut healthcare and food safety net programs, fund the President’s immigration crackdown and eliminate many green energy incentives. In addition to this, it includes a $5 trillion increase in the nation’s debt ceiling.

Republicans broadly supported the bill which contains majorly Trump’s domestic priorities, saying it would boost up the economic growth and also deliver tax breaks to Americans. Democrats are united in opposition of the bill but lacked the votes to support it.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries spoke against the bill in his eight hour 46 minute speech that set a new record in the chamber.

“This disgusting abomination is not about improving the quality of life of the American people,” he said, adding, “The focus of this bill, the justification for all of the cuts that will hurt everyday Americans, is to provide massive tax breaks for billionaires.”

The bill also makes major cuts to social programs, including Medicaid. Rural hospitals have warned that this can force them to scale back service, prompting Republicans to add $50 billion to help keep them afloat.

The Republicans are overjoyed as the Congress passed the bill. The White House issued a statement quoting Trump: “Tonight we saw a GREAT VICTORY in the Senate with the “GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,” but, it wouldn’t have happened without the Fantastic Work of Senator Rick Scott, Senator Mike Lee, Senator Ron Johnson, and Senator Cynthia Lummis.”

“They, along with all of the other Republican Patriots who voted for the Bill, are people who truly love our Country! As President of the USA, I am proud of them all, and look forward to working with them…,” the statement read.

Commenting on the votes, Speaker Mike Johnson posted on social media app X“Republicans in Congress have succeeded in our mission to enact President Trump’s America First agenda. And importantly, we did it in record time, so that the effects of this nation-shaping legislation can be felt by the American people as soon as possible.”
