Trump, UAE President Discuss Security Amid Iranian Strikes Across Gulf

Abu Dhabi (TDI): United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump on Monday to discuss rising regional tensions as the ongoing conflict between the US-Israel alliance and Iran continues, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The two leaders reviewed recent developments in the Gulf and their potential impact on regional and international security. They also addressed what UAE officials described as ongoing Iranian attacks targeting the Emirates and other Gulf countries, calling them violations of national sovereignty and threats to regional stability.

The call coincided with reports of missile alerts in the UAE on Monday morning. Authorities said air defense systems were actively responding as Iran carried out retaliatory strikes against Israel and US military bases across the Gulf. Missile and drone attacks have been reported in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Since the conflict began on February 28, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, the Gulf has experienced several missile incidents. The UAE Defense Ministry reported one civilian death in Abu Dhabi from falling debris after missile interceptions, and another fatality, a Pakistani national, was reported late Saturday night under similar circumstances.

In a post on X, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority confirmed that UAE air defense systems were actively countering threats. In the Emirate of Fujairah, a fire caused by missile shrapnel was quickly contained by emergency response teams, with no injuries reported.
