Trump to Address Rare Gathering of US Military Command on Tuesday

Washington (TDI): Amidst a lot of speculation about the Tuesday gathering of the US top military generals and admirals from around the world, Trump will also be present, in addition to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who called the meeting.

Questions are being asked about the need of such a meeting and concerns being raised about the costs of such an “unusual” in-person gathering, which will likely happen at the Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia.

US top military command, from all over the world including Japan, South Korean, and Middle East, will fly into Joint Base Andrews. Some will also be using military aircraft to make the journey.

The travel itself, in addition to security and arrangements, will cost millions of dollars; only for Trump to tell “we love them.”

“I want to tell the generals that we love them, they’re cherished leaders, to be strong, be tough and be smart and be compassionate,” the President told Reuters on Sunday.

He added that somebody needed to do this. But Trump’s remarks are barely satisfying the suspicion analysts have regarding this gathering. Vice President Vance says there is nothing unusual about the meeting.

What makes it unusual though is the fact that such meetings do not usually happen, and are not a matter of routine; especially when so much of money goes into the logistics of arranging something like this.

In addition, the two, three, and four star generals who will be attending the Tuesday meeting, are in charge of thousands of troops. Calling them from duty urgently also raises suspicion about the need of such a high-profile defense gathering.

This meeting comes after, in a most significant development for the defense department, Trump renamed it “Department of War.”

Earlier, when reports surfaced about the gathering for the first time, there were no reports of Trump’s presence in the meeting, and the military command was only supposed to meet Secretary Hegseth.
