New York (TDI): Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has refused to participate in CBS primetime “60 Minutes” election special interview, which will go forward next Monday with Democratic opponent Kamala Harris alone.
Near the election, the two presidential candidates are frequently invited for separate interviews that air back-to-back on television’s highest-rated news program. It usually happens on Sunday, but this year it is set for Monday.
“60 Minutes” said that after initially agreeing to an interview, Trump’s team informed CBS that the former president would not participate.
According to the network, Trump’s absence will be explained to viewers by correspondent Scott Pelley, who has extended an invitation to participate in an interview.

Vice President Harris and Bill Whitaker will have a prerecorded interview.
Voters will not have any additional opportunities to compare the two candidates.
Trump and Harris had a prior debate on September 10. The former president has declined CNN’s invitation to participate in a second debate later this month, while Harris has accepted.
Because CBS will air the American Music Awards on Sunday, the interview special is slated to air on Monday instead of the regular “60 Minutes” time slot.
