Ashgabat (TDI): Turkmenistan hosted a high-level meeting to mark the launch of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Coordination platform on Thursday, October 3.
According to the TDH, a Turkmen publication, EU Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen and Henrik Holloway, an advisor to the European Commission, were the key participants of the meeting held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

Officials from several countries—Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia, and Georgia—attended the event. Representatives from top financial institutions, such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, were also present.
The meeting emphasised the importance of transport infrastructure for Central Asia’s economic growth.
“The new platform aims to make the Trans-Caspian corridor a stronger, multimodal link between Europe and Asia,” according to a statement.

Investments in railways, roads, and ports will enhance cooperation between Europe and Central Asia, it added.
The platform will also focus on technological innovation, efficiency and stability in the transport sector.
By working together, member countries and institutions hope to create a safer, more sustainable transport network to drive regional development.
