New York, 25 September 2021 (TDI): Mahmoud Abbas, the President of Palestine addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. In his address, he stated that the Palestinian people will not surrender and defend their land and identity at all costs.
He reiterated that the Palestinian people will not give up their land and will not bow in front of Israeli tyranny. The policies and practices implemented by the colonial regime of Israel are unacceptable and Israel can’t force them to give up the pursuit of the right to self-determination. Palestine, including Jerusalem, belongs to the Palestinians.
The Palestinian President appreciated the international solidarity for the Palestinian cause. He lauded the demonstrations and protest around the world against the unlawful occupation of Israel, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and injustice. He also called on Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to convene an international peace conference. The UN needs to ensure a peaceful solution to the Palestine Question based on relevant UN resolutions. The President affirmed that Israel has one year to withdraw and Palestine will turn to ICJ on legal issues.
