Editorial The Diplomatic Insight November December 2008
The Editorial team of the monthly magazine, The Diplomatic Insight November December 2008, is gratified to inform you that the maiden issue is at your hands. Being a bilingual English-Arabic publication, The Diplomatic Insight November December 2008 is the first of its kind in Pakistan.
The principal focus of the publication is the coverage of the activities of foreign diplomatic missions in Pakistan including, the UN Agencies, International Organisations, and overseas Pakistanis provide an in-depth objective analysis of developments in the socio-economic and political milieu in Pakistan, currents, and cross-currents of international politics.
The Arabic section of the magazine primarily emphasizes the traditionally brotherly love and affection of the Arab world and diplomats based in Pakistan.
The Diplomatic Insight November December 2008 aims to connect a widely diverse, multicultural community;
inspire action, provide publicity, and thereby create awareness of important issues. The
magazine acts as a bridge between the diplomatic community and society to come
closer.
Thus it strives to promote peace, interfaith harmony, understanding, and cooperation among people, groups, and nations in a strife-torn world. In addition, the magazine covers a wide range of issues reflecting the culture, and history of Pakistan.
Moreover, it brings into the spotlight the activities of overseas Pakistanis, who as ambassadors of the country, are striving hard to earn goodwill for their motherland, besides contributing valuable foreign exchange to the national exchequer.
As the principal objective of the periodical is to promote peace, the Mumbai carnage requires
deepest expressed condemnation, as no way one approves the killings of innocent people
irrespective of religion, ethnic background, and nationality.
In the turbulent times that we live in, the common threat of international terrorism endangers regional security. Even after a month of the fateful events, tension mounts between the two countries as war-thumping and reckless rhetoric continues. India demands action while Pakistan is asking for solid proof, which is even confirmed by Interpol Chief Mr. Ronald Noble that India has yet to provide evidence(s) so as to take action against extremists.
India and Pakistan were armed with conventional and unconventional weapons; the threat of
mutually assured destruction loomed large with humanity living on both sides would stand
as losers. Whilst the world decent in a socio-economic crisis, the need of the hour is to act in restraint and with diplomatic cautiousness along with the collaborative efforts of the gigantic kind.
Maturity and utmost restraint from Pakistan has been widely appreciated but it should not be considered as its vulnerability as it is following the golden rules of foreign policy forwarded by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as he said “Our foreign policy is one of friendliness and goodwill towards the nations of the world.
We do not cherish aggressive designs against any country or nation. We believe in the principle of honesty and fair play in national and international dealings and are prepared to make our utmost contribution to the promotion of peace and prosperity among the nations of the world. Pakistan will never be found lacking in upholding the principles of the United
Nations Charter.”
The ultimate battle in this war on terror is to be fought in the hearts and minds of the
people. The world community has to identify, and actively address, the root causes that
inspire people to desperate acts of violence. Besides addressing the universal issue of
ignorance, poverty, and disease, we have to address specific issues such as the festering
wounds of Kashmir and Palestine to remove the misplaced need for asymmetric warfare.
Pakistan’s vision of the New World Order is a global dispensation of fair play, equity and
shared democratic values, as per the collective will of the nations, where all nations could
jointly strive for peace and development in the world. We also stress the need that the
sovereignty and integrity of the nation-state must be respected under the norms and values
that international system requests.
The Diplomatic Insight extends very warm Christmas and New year greetings to all its
esteemed readers with the hope that the new year begins and brings joys and new triumph
for humanity across wide and breath of the world. We also extend warm gratitude to
the countries that are national/ Independence Days fall in this month of November,
