Thailand marks 75th UN membership anniversary

UN General Secretary also marked Thailand as a steadfast champion of multilateralism and sustainable development.

New York, 17 December 2021 (TDI): The Kingdom of Thailand marked its 75th anniversary of the UN membership on Wednesday. On this occasion, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai underlined the constructive role of the country in the UN.

He also considered the Southeast Asian nation a responsible, reliable, and development partner of the UN for the last 20 years.

The message of Antonio Guterres

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also sent a message to the Kingdom of Thailand on the occasion Yesterday.

In his message, Antonio was congratulating the Thai people over the completion of constructive 75 years of its membership in the UN.

He noted that the country has already accomplished unprecedented development gains. Thailand gained universal health coverage and contributed to regional peace and security.

During the message, UN General Secretary also marked Thailand as a steadfast champion of multilateralism and sustainable development. The UN provides an excellent opportunity for further deepening our partnership United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2022-2025.

Guterres also expressed that Bangkok has become today a critical hub for the United Nations family. He also paid gratitude to Thailand for hosting the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

UN and Thailand are also looking forward to strengthening their contacts to achieve peace, security, and prosperity for all.

Message from Resident Coordinator

On the occasion, UN Resident Coordinator Gita Sabharwal also delivered a message, Commemorating the 75th UN membership anniversary of Thailand.

Gita thanked Royal Thai Government for their generous support throughout the 75 years. UN values a longstanding friendship and a vital contribution over these many decades, she added.
