Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Don Pramudwinai arrived in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, 17 December 2021 (TDI): Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Don Pramudwinai arrived in Cambodia on Thursday. The Foreign Minister is on an official visit to Cambodia to attend different events.

During the visit, Pramudwinai also Co-chaired the 11th Meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JC) between Thailand and Cambodia. Cambodian Foreign Minister, Prak Sokhonn was the other chair presiding the session along with Thai Foreign Minister.

The JC will be held from December 16 to December 18 in Phnom Penh. While 11th JC is themed ‘Peace, Prosperity, Recovery Together’. The meeting will strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The visit also included opportunity for the Thai Foreign Minister to pay a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen. He also held bilateral meeting with his counterpart Foreign Minister, Sokhonn to deliberate upon issues pertaining to mutual interest.

The two will exchange views on the current regional and international issues of common concerns. The role of Cambodia as the Chair of ASEAN in 2022 was also the part of discussion.

Earlier the two countries held 10th JC Meeting in 2016. The two counterparts of Thailand and Cambodia also held a symbolic handover ceremony of the RT-PCR laboratory equipment package with SARS-CoV-2 test kits from the Royal Thai Government.

The package will be provided to the Poipet Referral Hospital and the Mongkol Borei Hospital of Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia.
