Thai Embassy Hosts Vibrant Songkran Celebration in Islamabad

Islamabad (TDI): The Royal Thai Embassy in Pakistan hosted a colorful and culturally rich celebration of the Thai New Year festival, known popularly as Songkran, on Saturday.

Members of the diplomatic community, including ambassadors of ASEAN countries, along with Pakistani guests, joined the embassy in a day of cultural exchange and festivity.

Held at the embassy premises, Thailand’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Rongvudhi Virabutr, warmly welcomed the guests and introduced them to rich Thai tradition.

The celebration ran from late morning to the afternoon, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the spirit of Thailand’s most cherished and colorful festivity. The embassy grounds were transformed into a lively cultural space, adorned with traditional motifs and festive elements.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Virabutr emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan, as well as regional ties.

Guests were encouraged to wear bright and colorful attire, in keeping with the celebratory essence of Songkran, which represents renewal, gratitude, and the beginning of a new year in Thai culture.

The most tempting attraction of the day was the curated food festival, where a variety of authentic Thai cuisine was being served. From traditional street food to signature dishes, this culinary experience helped to re-introduce Thai favorites in a country where Thai cuisine is already cherished.
