Fornebu, 22 August 2023 (TDI): To strengthen its AI and technology capabilities, Telenor Group announced the appointment of Amol Phadke as its new Executive Vice President (EVP) and Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
This strategic hiring underscores Telenor’s commitment to leading the next wave of technological transformation in the telecom industry.
Phadke transitioned to Telenor after serving as the Global General Manager for the Telecom Industry Vertical at Google Cloud. He also carries a rich legacy of over twenty years in the international telecom sector.
With over two decades in the global telecom sector, Phadke’s expertise will be instrumental in shaping Telenor’s overall technology strategy, Research and innovation ambitions, and Group Security strategy. He will also chair the Telenor Procurement Company.
Sigve Brekke, President & CEO of Telenor Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointment, stating, “I am thrilled that Amol has agreed to lead the next wave of our technology transformation and to help us drive the use of technology as an enabler for profitable growth. In addition to Phadke’s appointment, Telenor announced other key leadership changes. Jørgen C. Arentz Rostrup has been named EVP and Head of Telenor Nordics, while Petter-Børre Furberg will take on the role of EVP and Head of Telenor Asia.
These changes align with Telenor’s strategic ambitions set for 2025, unveiled at the Capital Markets Day in 2022.
Brekke added, “I am confident we have a strong and competent Group Leadership Team that can continue to develop secure and reliable services for our customers and deliver on our strategy for long-term profitable growth,”

Capital Markets Day 2022
On 20 September 2022, Telenor held its Capital Markets Day at its headquarters in Fornebu, Norway. The company announced pivotal shifts to bolster growth and redefine its role in digitalization and sustainability.
CEO Sigve Brekke emphasized a vision of a transformed Telenor, offering enhanced value in a digital world with a focus on secure and sustainable solutions.
Organizational changes include enhanced Nordic collaboration, a separate infrastructure business area, and a new unit for core business renewal.
Financially, by 2025, Telenor anticipates growth in Nordic revenues and EBITDA, with a potential challenge to achieve flat EBITDA in 2022 due to energy price trends.
