Tariq Karim expresses support for Pakistan Cultural Garden in Cleveland

Chicago, 9 May 2023 (TDI): The Consul General (CG) of Pakistan in Chicago, Tariq Karim, attended an event held in Chicago to promote the Pakistan Cultural Garden (PCG) in Cleveland. Board members of the PCG briefed the attendees about the garden’s plans, and the Consul General expressed his support for the project.

Pakistan Cultural Garden is an initiative aimed at promoting Pakistani culture and heritage in Cleveland. Once completed, it will be the first of its kind in the United States (US), with a replica of Minar-e-Pakistan, symbolizing Pakistan’s history, cultural heritage, and arts.

In his remarks, Consul General Karim emphasized the importance of the Pakistan Cultural Garden as a means to showcase Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and history to the world. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the board members and volunteers who are working tirelessly to make this project a reality.

“The Pakistan Cultural Garden will be a source of pride for all Pakistanis living in the United States,” said Consul General Karim. “It will also serve as a bridge between our two countries, promoting mutual understanding, respect, and appreciation for each other’s cultures.”

Moreover, the PCG board members also shared their plans for the garden, including a traditional Pakistani gate, a walkway with quotes from famous Pakistani poets and writers, a reflection pool, and a performance stage. The garden will also feature a variety of plants and trees native to Pakistan.

“We are thrilled to bring the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan to Cleveland through this garden,” said Dr. Akram Boutros, PCG Board Member. “We hope that this project will inspire future generations to learn about and appreciate Pakistani culture and heritage.”

The Pakistan Cultural Garden is a project of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation, which was established in 1916 and is dedicated to creating a peaceful world through mutual understanding and respect for cultural diversity. The PCG project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
