Tajikistan President meets Chinese Foreign Minister

Dushanbe, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, met Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe to attend the SCO summit and talk about various issues related to regional security as well as the Afghanistan situation.

Emomali Rahmon thanked and praised China’s continuous support to help empower the Tajik economy throughout the Pandemic. He also showed vital interest in deepening the bilateral ties through increase trade and infrastructure projects. On the record, Dushanbe is one of the vital points for China’s Silk route joining East Asia to Europe.

Various other heads of the member states of SCO are to attend the summit and have arrived in Dushanbe. The 21st SCO Summit is being presided over by Tajik President to ensure cooperation and integration between the member states. Regional peace and integration are said to be the vital agenda of the summit with a special reference to the Afghanistan situation. President Xi is expected to join the summit via video link.
