Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan PMs Arrive in Islamabad for SCO Summit

ISLAMABAD, (TDI): Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda and Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister have landed in Islamabad on Tuesday to participate in the two-day meeting of the heads of government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal, along with senior government officials, welcomed Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda at Islamabad International Airport.

A red carpet was rolled out in honor of the visiting dignitary, and children, dressed in vibrant traditional attire, waved the flags of both Pakistan and Tajikistan, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The children’s participation symbolized the enduring friendship between the two countries and their shared aspirations for regional cooperation and prosperity.

Prime Minister Rasulzoda’s visit marks an important step in strengthening regional collaboration through the SCO, as member states focus on enhancing trade, economic development, and security in Central and South Asia.

The SCO summit in Islamabad is set to bring together several world leaders, and the participation of the Tajik leader is seen as a pivotal moment in fostering closer ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan, as well as promoting regional stability.

The Kyrgyz premier’s plane touched down at PAF Base Nur Khan in Islamabad, where he was greeted by Federal Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik.

Indian’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also arrived in Pakistan to attend the SCO meet. It will be for the first time in nearly nine years that an Indian foreign minister traveled to Pakistan.

The 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of SCO member states will commence today in the federal capital. This summit aims to strengthen cooperation and make significant organizational decisions.

In preparation for the meeting, key locations throughout the city have been adorned with colorful lights and Pakistani flags.

During the SCO meeting, leaders from member countries will discuss vital organizational matters, including enhancing collaboration and approving the organization’s budget.
