Damascus, 1 February 2022 (TDI): Syrian President Bashar al-Assad receives Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, and his accompanying delegation. 

Purposes of the Syrian-Omani Meeting

The meeting dealt with the distinguished relations between Syria and Oman and the areas of bilateral cooperation existing between the two brotherly countries.

In addition, it focused on the importance of continuing to work at various levels to strengthen these relations. 

Nonetheless, forge partnerships in various sectors that would benefit the Syrian and Omani peoples and the peoples of the Arab region. 

The Syrian President referred to the mutual understanding and convergent vision that the two countries have regarding the region’s issues.

He also noted the approach and the balanced role of the Sultanate of Oman. As well as its principled policies and stances towards Syria, and its support for the Syrian people. 

The Syrian President considered that the Arab States need to lay the foundations for the methodology of political relations.

On top of that, he urged to conduct rational dialogues based on the interests of people. Al-Assad pointed out that dealing with changes in reality and Arab society requires changing the political approach. 

He emphasized that thinking is based on our interests and our position on the international scene is fundamental, but cooperation is necessary. 

The Omani minister conveyed to President al-Assad the greetings of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. In addition to the affirmation and his keenness on Oman’s firm stances towards Syria.

Al Busaidi considered that Syria is an essential pillar in the Arab world, and its strong and courageous policies and stances make reliance on it great in facing the challenges. 

Syrian-Omani Foreign Minister Meeting Details

Following his meeting with Al Assad, Al Busaidi had a session of political talks with Faisal Miqdad. Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic is committed to enhancing bilateral relations in the region countries. 

During the meeting, they discussed brotherly relations between the two countries and ways to develop cooperation between them in various fields. In a way, that enhances common interests and achieves the aspirations of their peoples. 

He stressed the keenness of the leadership of the two countries. The two sides also exchanged views on the developments of several current issues of common concern. Especially those related to economic, social, and security issues in the region. 

They emphasized the importance of dialogue and addressing various issues through peaceful political solutions. Finally, to serve the aspirations of peoples and contribute to stability, progress, and prosperity for all.
