Swedish Envoy Extends Condolences to Flood Victims

Islamabad (TDI): Sweden’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alexandra Berg von Linde, has offered her condolences and support to communities hit by the latest wave of flash floods sweeping the country.

In a post on social media platform X on Tuesday, the envoy wrote that she was “deeply saddened by the recent floods in Pakistan” and sent “heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims” while pledging Sweden’s “unwavering support to all affected.”

Her message comes as disaster‑management officials confirm that at least 32 people have lost their lives in rain‑related incidents since heavy downpours began late last week, with the northwest Swat Valley and parts of Punjab and Sindh among the hardest‑hit areas. Rescue teams are still searching for missing tourists swept away when the Swat River burst its banks.

Ambassador Berg von Linde, who took up her post in Islamabad last August, has made climate resilience and humanitarian cooperation central themes of her tenure. In recent meetings with Pakistani lawmakers, she underscored Sweden’s readiness to deepen collaboration on disaster‑response capacity and sustainable development.
