Islamabad (TDI): In a video message for UNICEF Pakistan, Swedish Ambassador in Islamabad, Alexandra Berg von Linde, gave a powerful and compassionate message for Parenting Month, that kickstarts on June 1 every year – the Global Day of Parents.
“Can you imagine when disasters strike and you are left with absolutely nothing?… Then parenting becomes a matter of survival for you and your children,” she said.
Swedish Embassy in Pakistan regularly partners with UNICEF to deliver grassroots level projects in far-flung areas. Ambassador von Linde herself travelled to some villages of Sindh to visit the projects being implemented, and to see their impact on local communities.

“I am a mum to two energetic kids. As a parent, I know that parenting is a journey filled with love but also great challenges,” the Ambassador said in her message.
“Every parent wants their child to be healthy, safe, and loved,” she noted, adding that the vulnerability brought along with disasters is the reason why Sweden joins hands with UNICEF: “To ensure that families have access to life-saving services when they need them the most.”
The Embassy posted from its official account on social media platform X: “Sweden stands with parents because strong families build resilient communities.”
Ambassador von Linde assumed charge as Sweden’s Ambassador to Pakistan in August, last year. Before coming to Pakistan, she previously served as Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh.
She also worked at the Embassies in New Delhi and Kabul, and has held numerous positions in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm, including Chief of Staff to two Ministers of International Development Cooperation and Deputy Head of Ministers’ Office.
