Sweden, Pakistan Sports Cooperation Highlighted at ATP Challenger Tour

Islamabad (TDI): Islamabad is hosting its first ATP Challenger Tour from November 24-30 at the PTF Tennis Complex. The tournament has brought together international and national players, showcasing Pakistan’s growing presence on the global tennis stage.

The tournament is featuring a main draw of 24 players from across the globe. and has drawn attention with the participation of international players.

One such notable presence is of the Swedish tennis stars Elias Ymer and Leo Borg on Pakistan’s court, performing and making their first visit to Islamabad. 

Their presence highlights a significant step forward in sports exchange between Pakistan and Sweden, while providing tennis fans the opportunity to witness stars up close.

Ambassador of Sweden to Pakistan, Alex Berg von Linde, also congratulated Pakistan and praised the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PFT) for organizing the tournament.

In a post on X, the Embassy said “An exciting moment for tennis in Pakistan and a proud one for us as Swedish players Elias Ymer and Leo Borg make their visit to Islamabad.”

The president of PTF, Aisam ul Haq, described hosting the tournament as a great success for the country and said “It’s a huge step forward for our players, fans and the entire sporting community. We are committed to providing world-class facilities and opportunities for our athletes.”

Aisam emphasized that the first edition is only the beginning and the next year’s event will have more attractions and higher incentives.

“Pakistan is growing as an important destination for international players. Next year, we are planning to hold a mega ITF tournament.”

He also said that hosting an ATP event is a dream come true for Pakistan. Aisam will be playing his ATP Challenger last match on Saturday as his doubles pair with Muzammil Murtaza has reached the doubles final. They are facing the Czech-Kazakh pair of Dominik Palan and Denis Yevseyev.
