Colombo, 12 January 2023 (TDI): Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, Senior Director for South Asia, National Security Council, White House, & Special Assistant to Joe Biden paid a courtesy call to Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.

The delegation arrived in the country on the 11th of January 2023 and was warmly received by the Minister at his office.

The meeting started on certain particular topics which included, security, economic development, and cultural and mutual support.

The US-Sri Lanka relations have been stronger taking a look at the end of 2022 and starting 2023. The White House has been a strong supporter of the Sri Lanka government.

The Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabry during the meeting talked about the need for a strong security system in the region. The US security system has constantly been described as one of the most powerful security architectures in the world.

Emphasizing that was Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, who was more particular about the security of South Asia.

For development to come to the region there is the need to prioritize peace and unity. The US is ever ready to assist Sri Lanka in all its doing to continue to promote unity.

Also, regarding the issue of economic development, the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabry applauded the US for the strong support they have given to them so far and also encourage them for a partnership deal in trading.

The US has been a partner of Sri Lanka when it comes to trade and other revenue generation. They also talked about the cultural and mutual support both in the region and in Sri Lanka in particular.

The cultural exchanges between countries in the South Asia region and between the US is a vital initiatives for economic development.

All the initiatives and ideas taken during the meeting were considered to promote the development of the countries. The Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry thanked the delegation for their time and input.
