Singapore, 8 December 2022 (TDI): The State Minister of Sri Lanka, Tharaka Balasuriya met with the Senior Minister for Health, Communication, and Information of Singapore, Janil Puthucheary as they seek to partner for employment opportunities.

During the transit visit, the State Minister of Sri Lanka discussed certain key issues regarding employment opportunities both countries have in common.

He added that the need to tackle youth unemployment and provide more jobs to the people should be supplemented by international cooperation on development.

Moreover, touching on the issue of employment opportunities, he talked about the need for healthcare sector employment development.

His focus was to get people improved in this sector and how they can be more so prepared for employment. The healthcare sector of Sri Lanka is paramount to its people and will need further cooperation.

Also, he touched on the need to improve the Information technology (IT) sector. This sector helps to strengthen human resources for innovative development.

IT will be able to get many people to start up their businesses and also promote the manufacturing sector of the country.

Many of the youths in the country will be able to develop their international knowledge in these areas as a result of this great opportunity.

Singapore is noted for its development in these areas which when outlined and partnered with them will help to generate more income.

Due to the global pandemic and the issue of the Russia-Ukraine war, Sri Lanka has been faced with economic challenges.

The Singapore official applauded the government of Sri Lanka for their firm stand on the development of the people of Sri Lanka in these times of global challenges.
