Sri Lanka congratulates Spain on its National Day


Colombo, 12 October 2021 (TDI): Sri Lanka congratulated Spain on its National Day. On this auspicious day, the Government of Sri Lanka sent best wishes to the people and the Government of Spain.

Spain maintains diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka since 1955. The Spanish Government, within the framework of the European Union, has supported efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the Sri Lankan ethnic problem. It has also supported the country’s rehabilitation assistance program.

The National Day of Spain is held annually on 12 October. The Spanish people commemorate the history of the country, recognizing and giving the value of what has been achieved together. On this remarkable day, they reconfirm the commitment for the future as a nation.

The 12 of October celebrates union and brotherhood, also showing the ties of Spain with the international community.
