Accra, 6 December 2021 (TDI): South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, paid an official visit to Ghana. Vice President of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, welcomed the South African guest at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana.

Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, and Deputy Minister of State, Security Zizi Kodwa, also joined the South African President on the visit.
Meeting between Presidents of Ghana and South Africa
Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo held a meeting with the South African President. Both officials discussed a wide range of bilateral issues. These include cooperation in trade, investment, and the economy.
Moreover, both presidents exchanged views on continental issues, like democracy, good governance, and elections. Also, they paid attention to the continent’s security challenges and armed conflicts and their impact on economic prosperity and sustainable development.
Furthermore, the South African President praised Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo’s efforts of calling and mediating for peace and stability as a Head of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Additionally, South African President congratulated Ghana for being elected as a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) member.
Inauguration of Bi-National Commission
South Africa and Ghana inaugurated the South Africa-Ghana Bi-National Commission (BNC) at Jubilee House in Accra, Ghana. The establishment of BNC will further enhance relations between the two countries.

BNC fosters collaboration between both countries’ governments. It also facilitates communication between privates & public industries and businesses to collaborate in several sectors. These sectors include social, cultural, technical, scientific, investment and economy.
Ghana- South Africa Business Forum
South African President attended the Ghana-South Africa Business Forum in Accra. While speaking at the forum, South African President praised the Ghana business industry for its performance in the COVID-19 period. He said, “I salute the resilience of the business community and your ability to sustain your businesses through these difficult times.”
Moreover, the business forum aims to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries. Likewise, it facilitates cooperation in railway & road infrastructure, energy, agro-processing, and mining cooperation between the two countries.
